John Gismondi Awarded The Legal Intelligencer's Lifetime Achievement Award In Philadelphia
The Legal Intelligencer, America’s oldest daily legal newspaper and the most trusted source of Pennsylvania legal news, information and analysis, celebrated its 170th anniversary by honoring some of the most influential attorneys in Pennsylvania, including John Gismondi.
The award ceremony was held at The Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia last evening. Among the award winners were leaders of billion-dollar corporations, accomplished trial attorneys, civil rights advocates, promoters of judicial independence, leaders in government, founders of AmLaw 200 law firms, champions of diversity, protectors of children and a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
The Legal Intelligencer had only a select few requirements for the award: the attorney must have had a distinct impact on the legal profession in the state and must still be practicing the law.
According to the release announcing the winners “our focus in selecting this group of noteworthy individuals was to represent the figures who have helped to shape the law in Pennsylvania, whether through their work on the bench, assisting those in need of legal services, building a firm or any other means.”
The selection process for the award included consulting trusted members of the community and the staff of the Legal Intelligencer to obtain a list of candidates. The list was then pared down to a list of twenty-seven honorees for the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award. “We feel these attorneys represent the best the Pennsylvania legal community has to offer. They have collectively moved forward the legal profession in the state, helped foster the legal education of younger attorneys and stood as examples of some of the best virtues of Pennsylvania attorneys,” reported the Legal Intelligencer.
Mr. Gismondi was the only plaintiff’s attorney from Pittsburgh included on the list. He said “it was a wonderful surprise and an honor to be included with such a distinct group of professionals.” As the founder of Gismondi & Associates, he has represented hundreds of injured people from across western Pennsylvania with all types of medical malpractice, personal injury, defective product and accident claims.
